Shmoo Milkshakes

Shmoo is a thick milkshake system built for venues rather than kitchens: powdered mix, ice-cold semi-skimmed milk and a spindle mixer produce a proper spoon-standing shake in under a minute. The mix roughly doubles in volume as it aerates, which is where both the texture and the margin come from.
The range is organised around how far along you are. The starter kit pairs a spindle blender with a supply of mix, which answers the usual question of what you actually need to buy first and suits a site testing whether its customers will buy a cold drink at all. Four-tub packs step up once shakes are selling. The eight-tub bulk pack is a season’s stock, not a trial: 14.4kg of mix and somewhere between roughly 690 and 960 servings depending on cup size, which is the order for a dessert parlour in July or a holiday park through the school holidays. Vending Express is formulated for vending and quick-service sites where preparation has to be identical every time.
The commercial case is simple. Ingredient cost per shake is low, the mix is shelf-stable, and there is no soft-serve machine to strip down at night and no freezer capacity surrendered to ice cream. It also captures the customers a coffee menu misses entirely — children, teenagers and anyone who does not drink hot coffee — which is exactly when coffee sales dip.
You will need the mixer, chilled milk storage, cups, lids and straws. Adding milkshakes and slush to a coffee menu covers the equipment and the numbers, the margin on a takeaway cup helps you price it, and slush cups gives you a serve for the frozen side too.
