Jura Coffee Machines
Jura builds Swiss automatic bean to cup machines for places where the machine is part of the room: receptions, showrooms, consulting rooms, meeting suites and hospitality counters. The appeal is quiet, one-touch operation and automated rinsing programmes that take most of the daily judgement away from staff.
The range is easy to choose from because Jura states the duty each machine is built for. The WE line is the entry to commercial rating: the WE6 suits around 30 drinks a day and concentrates on ristretto, espresso, coffee and lungo, while the WE8 handles around 35 and adds an automatic milk system for cappuccino, latte macchiato and flat white. The X10 and JX8 Platinum sit in the middle — slim chrome bodies, colour displays, 21 specialities and micro-foam frothing — and suit mid-sized workplaces that want something client-facing. The Giga machines are the heavy end, rated up to 200 cups a day with two ceramic disc grinders and two bean hoppers, so decaf or a second blend runs alongside the house roast without anyone swapping beans mid-service.
Two checks before you order. Water: the Giga X8c connects to the mains, tank-fed models need someone to fill them, and every Jura lasts longer with a water filter kept in date, because limescale rather than use is what usually ends a boiler’s life. Milk: fresh milk systems need a chilled container beside the machine, so allow for it in the counter layout.
Feed one well-chosen coffee beans and it will repay you. Still weighing automation against doing it by hand? Read bean to cup against a traditional espresso set-up.
