Black coffee, made well and made repeatedly, is what most small offices actually get through. The Jura WE6 is built around that reality: a commercial-rated bean-to-cup machine for sites with a daily demand of up to around 30 drinks, focused on the espresso and long coffee menu rather than milk specialities.
Reading the 30-drink figure properly
That number describes a small team topping up through the day rather than a counter serving the public, and it assumes the machine gets a breather between rounds. A modest office where everyone has a couple of coffees sits comfortably inside it. A café would exhaust it before lunch. Sizing up is the cheaper mistake, because a small machine run at its limit every day ages faster than one run within itself, so compare it against the rest of our bean to cup range if demand is likely to grow.
How it grinds
A single adjustable ceramic disc grinder mills the beans at low speed, keeping heat out of the grounds and preserving the aromatics that a blade grinder destroys.
Grinder, tank and daily drinks
- Suited to commercial sites serving up to around 30 drinks per day
- One-touch selection for ristretto, espresso, coffee and lungo
- Adjustable ceramic disc grinder for even, low-heat grinding
- 3 litre water tank and 500g bean container
- Programmable strength and cup volume for each drink
- Automatic rinsing at switch-on and switch-off
- Tank-fed, with no plumbing or waste connection to arrange
- Two-year warranty from new
The drinks menu, and settings that stay put
Ristretto, espresso, coffee and lungo are each available on one touch, with strength and volume programmable so the settings a site prefers stay where they were left. The 3 litre water tank and around 500g bean hopper mean refilling fits naturally into a morning routine rather than interrupting the day.
No milk system, and why that is deliberate
There is no automatic milk system here, and that is a deliberate omission rather than a gap. Sites that add milk from a fridge carton get a simpler machine and no milk lines to sanitise. What you give up is the one-touch cappuccino. If people expect textured foam on a latte, the WE6 is the wrong machine and a model with a milk system is the one to look at.
Beans for a single grinder
One grinder gives you one grind profile at a time, so the beans you buy and the setting you choose have to agree with each other. Darker, oilier roasts behave differently in an automatic machine from lighter ones, and a bean a barista would love on a traditional espresso machine is not automatically right for a fixed brewing programme with nobody there to compensate. Our guide to choosing beans for a bean to cup machine covers what to look for, and you can order suitable roasts from our coffee bean range.
Tank-fed, which decides where it can go
There is no plumbing to arrange and no waste connection to find, which is often the deciding factor in a leased office, or in any building with no realistic route for a mains water connection. It needs a socket, a stable surface, clearance above for filling the hopper, and access to a tap.
Water quality in a hard water area
Because it is tank-fed, the water going in is only as good as the tap it came from. In a hard water area a filtered supply is worth organising from the start rather than added later.
Whoever opens up
Without a milk system there is nothing to strip down or sanitise, which cuts the daily work down to very little:
- Empty the grounds container
- Top up the water tank and the bean hopper
- Run a cleaning tablet cycle when it falls due
Automatic rinsing at switch-on and switch-off takes care of the brewing path in between, so this is a job for whoever opens up rather than a trained operator.
Noise, and where it stands
Its narrow footprint and quiet grinder suit a staff kitchen next to desks, or a workshop, studio or consulting room where the machine sits close to people trying to work.
What to weigh it against
Against a domestic bean to cup, the WE6 is the machine still working after a year of office use rather than the one being replaced. Against a filter brewer, it makes a fresh drink to order instead of holding coffee in a jug, which suits a team taking staggered breaks far better than a batch that goes flat by eleven. Dropping the milk system keeps both the purchase and the ongoing consumables simpler than a comparable one-touch model. If you are unsure whether 30 drinks a day describes your site, our commercial coffee machine FAQs work through what buyers usually ask before committing.
