Eleven drinks sounds like a limitation until you count what a household or a small office genuinely orders, which is usually four or five. The Jura E6 is built around that observation: a short menu on a TFT display, a piano black cabinet that suits a domestic kitchen, and none of the fiddly set-up that puts people off manual espresso. Fewer screens, less scrolling, no hunting for the drink somebody actually wanted. If your list runs to espresso, americano, cappuccino and latte, this covers it comfortably.
In the cup
Every coffee starts at the Professional Aroma Grinder, which works quickly and precisely so the beans give up their aromatic oils rather than being cooked by a slow grind. The Pulse Extraction Process then times the water flow in pulses through the coffee, which particularly benefits ristretto and espresso where contact time defines the result. For milk drinks, fine foam technology whips a fine, even foam that holds its shape on a cappuccino or latte, and that is the feature separating a machine like this from a pod machine with a steam wand bolted on. It needs milk kept chilled nearby and the prompted cleaning routine run when asked, which takes moments but has to actually happen. A household where everyone drinks black coffee can ignore the milk side entirely; everyone else will use it daily.

Setting it up on the worktop
This is a plug-in-and-go machine rather than an installation job. It needs a socket, worktop space, and enough room above to top up beans and water without shuffling it out from under a cupboard. Keep the front clear so emptying takes seconds rather than a rearrangement of the worktop, because a machine that has to be dragged forward gets emptied late. In a compact office kitchen, put it where the kettle used to be and watch how quickly the kettle stops being used.
Keeping it right
Maintenance is guided rather than guessed at: the E6 prompts rinsing, cleaning and descaling when they fall due, and filtered water reduces how often the last of those is needed. Coffee strength, water volume and temperature can be adjusted per drink and saved, which matters when two people in a household disagree about what counts as a strong coffee. Bean choice does more for the cup than any setting, and our notes on matching beans to an automatic machine are worth ten minutes before your first order.
Where it belongs, and where it does not
It is a natural fit for the home, a studio flat or a compact office kitchen replacing a kettle and instant, and for a first-time bean to cup buyer who wants simplicity over settings. Push it into a busy workplace serving coffee all day and you are asking a domestic machine to do a commercial job, which ends the way you would expect; at that point the commercial bean to cup range is the honest answer. Equally, if you want to learn extraction and take control of the shot, a traditional machine and a separate grinder will teach you more, at the cost of every morning taking longer.
If the menu matters more than the footprint
Those two pull in opposite directions here. Where the length of the drinks list is the deciding factor rather than the space it occupies, the Jura E8 covers a longer list of speciality drinks from the same family.
